Therapeutic Use of Smell

The effect of smell on the limbic system is profound. The limbic system is comprised of the areas of the brain thought to be concerned with the emotional state of the person. Studies have shown improvement in learning disabilities and emotional disturbances using smell as an intervention.

I'd like to see some more scientific studies on this.
